Well off I went indeed!  On the first day we set off mid morning with the human kennel on wheels attached to the blue tin box on wheels. Now from last year I know this means I am going to see lots of new places and experience lots of new doggy smells....
The camp site we stopped in was just outside Patras, a place called Kato Allisos, not bad either, nice and quiet and they liked dogs!!!
Here I am in the back of Picasso on guard duty.

Holidays.......

There has been a lot of activity around my house recently. It all started with Mr Stop'it unwrapping the human kennel on wheels. Over the last few days he has washed it and puts lots of things inside, including some of my food so that must mean I am included. Its not to bad either as I have my very own room in the human kennel !
I have heard my people talking about taking me on a ferry boat, now that will be a first for me and as I have my very own passport I guess we are all going on holiday........
In a few weeks I'll report back as to where we we went.

It's broke guv.....

You all know that I am fortunate most mornings to be taken to the beach by my people for a good run around, something I look forward to. Well this morning I got them up and Mr Stop'it took me outside for my morning "hair do" (my brush down) whilst the Mrs got ready. I got in the back of the "Green Meanie" all ready to set off and when Mr Stop'it got in to start it up there was just no noise at all!
It was dead!
Now I know he is quite good with cars but I thought I had better give him a hand analysing the problem.
My diagnosis, flat battery!
So we had to all push the car into the garage so he could put the charger on whilst we went out in the "Blue tin box" on wheels........

Meet my new neighbour

Guess what folks?  I have got a new next door neighbour. Unfortunately there is a fence between us so we can not get to play together, but we can have a good old bark at each other. I have not yet found out his name, and as you can see he is still very young, but seems bright enough. He is not as lucky as me though, despite being allowed to run about in his garden sometimes, he has to perform "chicken guard duties", so that means he gets tied up. Still he is fed and looks very well I think.....

His play time......

The last few days have been quite warm and all the grass in the garden has grown ever so quickly so Mr Stop'it decided to give it another mow this weekend. He tells Mrs Stop'it its lots of hard work, but I know otherwise, he really likes playing with the grass eating tractor cutting machine really !
I'll just sit in here and watch, keeping out of the way in case the grass eating machine gets my tail !

The sun is out and its lizard time again. Now these humans do not understand the fun I can get by chasing lizards around the garden. Unfortunately this one got away and ran under this pot, so I have to stay guard until it reappears.
Remember a Lizard is not just for life, its for dinner !!!!!!

Poison No2

My people always take my anti poison injection kit with us when I go out on walks, but if for any reason any of my canine friends  were to be poisoned and a kit was not available it is very important to act very fast.......you may not have the time to get to a vet, as I said before some poisons (like the type laid down here in Greece by morons) would kill me in 5-10 minutes!

Poisons act in different ways, but here in Greece the stuff put down results in frothing at the mouth, loss of balance, massive convulsions and loss of bladder & bowel control.

It is absolutely vital to make me vomit (except of course in the case of corrosive poisons) . Salt water "may" work, but far better would be a mixture of plain old household mustard! (yuk).....Squirty type ready made is available in most grocery stores, and there may be one much nearer than the vets surgery....
Another option is a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, again that pharmacy may be nearer than a vet, one way or another you have to get my canine friends to swallow it..................
Of course you still need to get to the vet, but this action may just save a canine life.

Poison !!

My regular readers will already know from some of my previous postings about the practice here in Greece of laying poisons down in the woods and along the  beaches. Yesterday I lost another one of my canine friends to this foul deed.
Most days, like me my friend and his brother are taken for a walk along the open beaches here in the Peloponnese, whilst having great fun running about he unfortunately ate an item left on the ground whilst out of sight of his housekeeper, that was laced with poison. Less than 20 minutes later he was dead, dying the most agonising death.

I refer to my canine friends brother, he is OK as he did not eat any but clearly is distraught. Both doggie friends were abondoned as puppies and taken in by some kind English people who loved them to bits.  My friends much bigger than me and look just like two English black & white setters........all I hope for is the bastard who laid the poisons one day can have some of his own medicine!
Next post I will write on how to try and help canine friends who have eaten poison if you have no vet around......

Whoops, got rumbled !

Since last winter set in I was allowed to sleep inside and my housekeepers bring my chair and cushion in each night for me to sleep on.  I also have a very warm furry basket to sleep in if I get cold. However all this is not as comfortable as the sofa the humans sit on, but I am not allowed to sit on it!
Well for a few nights without the Stop'its knowing, when they went to bed I made my self very comfortable on the big sofa. As you will see I blend in very well, so if Mrs Stop'it gets up in the night she'll not see me here without her glasses......
But ouch!  Last night Mr Stop'it got up and caught me, tried this morning telling him he was dreaming but he had me cold, photographed me on his blooming phone !!!!!

Poppy fields of Messinia

Well in recent days there has not been much happening to tell you about. Most days start with me and the "Stop'its" going to the beach for my morning run about and then the Stop'its are busy in the garden getting things ready for summer. I must say though the beach is good at this time of year, normally I have it all to myself and can run about on the sand and through the poppy fields that stretch along the coast.
The last few days though have not been much fun, Mr Stop'it has been ill and I've not been out; its a good job I have a great big garden to exercise in.....
